Is Spotify a Scam or a Legit Way to Earn $1372 per Month?

Spotify Review
Your friend might want to know about this:

Have you ever wondered if it is possible to get paid for doing something that you love? If you are interested in music, then today’s post can seriously help you out.

While, in some cases, it can be a substitute for a real 9-5 job, music curation is undoubtedly one of the best side-hustle out there.

Please find out more about this as we answer whether Spotify is a scam or a legitimate platform from which you can earn at least $1000 per month from.

For most of us, music has a special place in our hearts. 🎹💖

Not only is it a magnificent form of art that masterfully captures the symphony of tones and beats, but research says that it also allows us to express emotions, achieve self-awareness, and boost our moods.

Most professionals even recommend that parents should expose their children to music as early as possible!

Seeing that there is a significant demand in this industry, many companies have developed a diverse number of streaming services with special music libraries that will surely be perfect for many audiophiles out there.

From Apple Music, Tidal, to even YouTube Music, the platforms just keep on growing. However, if we were to crown only one for being the most prominent, most robust, and most successful platform out there, Spotify would be king.

This Swedish-based digital music service was founded by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon in 2006 and has continued expanding and dominating every inch of the world.

Is Spotify a scamAnd just this October, statistics reported that the company has around 320 million monthly active users, which comfortably rivals the number of followers from competing brands. 😮

One of the main reasons why it is perceived as the best streaming service is because it packs a massive library of audio content with new music from new and pro artists and even podcasts on various subjects.

So, if you are a musician, you can pitch your songs with them and earn royalties. However, there is also another way by which you can profit from Spotify.

Are you interested? Let’s find out more about this opportunity. 😊

Is Spotify A Scam or a Legitimate Application?

If you have been following the site, you know that I have always been an advocate of online opportunities. I mean, they may not amount much as what a 9-5 paycheck can, but having some new income stream is a welcomed idea.

In this sense, I try my best to deliver hot from the press honest reviews about the latest deals online because, as we all know, not everything you see is worthy of your time and effort, and some are just deliberate scams.

In terms of Spotify’s legitimacy – it’s real gold. ⭐

Its mother company, Spotify Technology SA, is publicly traded in the stock market, and it continues to enjoy a strong trend with the current price of 291.37 dollars per share.

If we look into its historical data, we can see a sharp spike as it reached an all-time high during the pandemic. And the good thing here is that it is still coming off strong!

So, for my investor friends out there who’ve had this one on their portfolio since 2018 or 2019, then I guess you guys are finally able to get the ultimate value for money.

At the same time, if you are just beginning to understand the market, don’t open your port right away and buy this stock.

You have to time it and analyze the best prices because if you get this at its current price, you might have to cut some losses.

I don’t want to sound like a “guru,” but it doesn’t take a pro to see that the price is at its highest right now.

Regarding how the customers view it, you might find comfort knowing that it has a 4.8 rating on Trustpilot, where almost 94% rated it with an excellent mark.

The same is valid with its ratings from Google Play and Apple Store. 👈

Nonetheless, this company is not all about glitz and glamour because, you see, despite its A+ rating, it also has dismally low customer service on BBB

And based on the emerging themes of the complaints, most are regarding unfair billing where customers were charged after opting in for the one-month free trial of Spotify Premium.

At present, all of these are answered by customer service. 🙂

Despite having some complaints, I firmly believe that the company is legitimate, and I am almost 98% sure that most of you reading this post right now has even tried their free service at least once in your life.

It is famous for a reason, and it remains to be one of the most recommended ones featured by PCmagCNetLifehack, and Business Insider.

How to Earn From Spotify: 2 Legitimate Ways

Spotify is a one-stop shop for all music enthusiasts to find the best assortment of music for their mood and current state in mind. It gets even better when you find out that you can bank some real cash.

I’m not talking about mere cents or a few bucks. I am saying that with passion and dedication, you can even earn up to $1000 per month and more!

Take note that I used the word “legitimate” in the header here because I know there are lots of other sketchy ways by which you earn from Spotify.

You see, the company has been consistently taking down playlists and terminating accounts due to the rampant spread of independent music promotion services that are against the rules of Spotify.

Some users are sending pitches directly to artists and are basically telling them that they will place the artist’s songs in the first five entries if they pay a certain amount.

Is Spotify a Legitimate ApplicationThere are even those that are selling their accounts and playlists with lots of followers, while some are accepting compensations directly from artists for featuring their songs. 💰

I cannot blame new artists since they probably want all the exposure and recognition they can, considering that they are just starting in the business, to the point that they are willing to pay for it.

However, accepting payments directly from artists is illegal and can cause immediate termination of your account if you’re found guilty of the crime.

At the end of the day, our goal is to profit in a way where we will not step on any toes. With this being said, you must consider only the legit ways to earn through Spotify.

In this sense, I have listed here the two safest ways that will not violate any of the terms and conditions of the company.

Of course, I want all of us on the safe side, meaning that I will probably update this post from time to time if new changes occur to their policies.

Legit Way#1: Become A Music Reviewer/Curator

Before I researched this, I was a little bit surprised to find out that you can earn even if you don’t have a flair for music.

I mean, not all of us are born with the gift to strum melodiously or drum with coordination, but the fact that you can get paid just to listen to music is a big deal for me.

Come on, isn’t this what dreams are made of? 💤

With the help of the website called PlaylistPush, you can preview songs from independent artists and become a playlist curator.

This contemporary concept earned the company a sweet 4.2 rating on TrustPilot and is considered one of the top platforms for aspiring curators and independent artists interested in growing their fan base.

But of course, let’s focus on the curator’s side. 👇

Inside this platform, the rate will depend on how impactful your review is, so please bear in mind that this is not some scheme that will produce cash out of nothing.

Additionally, the rate per review also changes, but the highest earn from this is at least $15 while the lowest is $1.25.

And come to think of it, $15 for a single review is not bad. The songs are practically just around 3 to 4 minutes. (or five maximum)

How to earn money with SpotifyIt pays even better than some of the websites I know like LionbridgeUserTesting, and Appen. What is even better about this is you can request an instant payout to your PayPal account in just a few clicks. 👍

Please note that the site is not encouraging and paying you to feature artists. All it is asking is to listen to the songs and do a review.

After that, if you liked the songs, it is at your discretion whether you will create your playlists featuring those artists. But again, you will not be paid for this.

Want to ensure that you’ll rack up the $15 ones? 💸

Then you better improve your reputation score! Curators under the Playlist Push are not some regular music listeners. They are supposed to be audiophiles who can craft informative and objective reviews.

The more honest your feedback is, and as long as you can maintain your playlist listeners’ activeness, the higher your reputation will be.

While the work may sound like a blast, becoming an official curator on the site is not that easy. Besides keying your details, you will be required to submit samples of your music curation on Spotify.

To successfully pass that, you must meet all the requirements below: 🔽

  1. You must be from North America or Europe. If you are not from any of those places, then I’m afraid we might have to look for an alternative.

  2. You must have a pre-existing playlist with at least a thousand followers. (plus points if you have more than one playlist)

  3. The playlists you will submit during the sign-up process must have at least 30 active monthly listeners.

  4. The playlist must not include movie soundtracks.

  5. The playlist may come from a specific genre but never from just one artist or album alone. The playlist genre you will submit during account creation will determine the type of songs you’ll also receive on the platform. Therefore, stick to what you enjoy the most!

  6. It would be best if you did not focus the playlist on a specific area alone.

So to summarize, your playlist should be a work of love (both for you and your listeners) and not something that you magically populate with various songs just for the sake of earning.

Do you want my advice? 😄

Enjoy the process and make sure that you will enjoy whatever you’ll create, as this is the primary factor you should consider as a curator.

Additionally, I found out that PlaylistPush has zero tolerance for any monkey business in the platform.

So, suppose you’re planning on violating the requirements or using tactics such as the “Sub for Sub,” using bots or fake followers, or adding “pleading” titles to your playlists.

In that case, you can expect your account terminated and payments forfeited within 24 hours.

In a nutshell, if you successfully joined the site, you can expect around $12 per review, and if you are lucky to come across at least one every single day, then that can amount to at least $300 a month.

While it is possible that you may or may not get any song to review for several days, the possibility of scoring at least $50 on your first two weeks is highly possible.

Difficulty: Medium. ✅

Legit Way#2: Become An Artist

It would be foolish of us to leave our artist friends out of the equation. If you have a band or at least some well-recorded original songs, you as a musician can make decent cash with Spotify.

Of course, you can sign up with other websites that can help get your song out in the open, but Spotify’s practical algorithm can already be enough in marketing your music.

To join, all you have to do is to create an artist profile and have your official record label or music distributor handle the rest when it comes to setting up royalties and licensing.

I understand that not everyone is connected with a professional distributor (YouTube videos do not count!), so Spotify made a provider directory where you can pitch your music to real professionals.

Do I need to hire a label first before uploading my music to Spotify? 🤔

Unfortunately, yes. But look on the bright side, if you’re starting from scratch, you can finally say that you have an official label that can take away all the possible headaches in terms of legalities in the future.

I have checked one of the most recommended ones, which is DistroKid, and it is stated on their site that it only costs around $19.99 to upload an unlimited number of songs on Spotify per year.

I think it’s a great deal already! 👍

There are many other distributors on their list, which means that you can find the one that best suits your needs and goals as an artist. As a piece of advice, always read the fine print before committing to any of these.

You see, some might seem cheap, but they will get portions of your royalties. For the case of DistroKid, your royalties are yours alone.

The difficulty level of this opportunity is on the medium. 😉

Have you ever wondered why many YouTube singers are mainly focusing on uploading video content before signing up with Spotify?

Here the truth – they are building a fan base to ensure value for money once they’re ready to invest and earn from Spotify.

In this sense, if you are just deadbeat on the idea of making a name for yourself without actually thinking about making loads of money, then setting up a Spotify account for artists is relatively easy.

At the same time, if you intend to turn this into an ultimate side hustle, then there are still a lot of elements that you need to consider, like:

  1. How to reach a broader range of audiences (you probably need to hire some digital marketers and sign up with PlaylistPush as an artist)

  2. Invest in your recording – ensure that the sound is of high quality and not just recorded out of your phone or with background noise because this is included whenever you pitch to editors and record labels.

  3. Invest in your talent and followers – let’s admit that the music industry is competitive. To make a name as an independent artist, you must make sure that you already have followers before signing up with Spotify.

But what if you still don’t have enough to hire professionals to do the marketing for you? Then this is where the problem lies. Instead of a “medium” difficulty, I might take it up a notch and label it as “hard!”

In a nutshell, if you successfully joined the site as an artist, you can expect around $0.00331 to $0.00437 per stream.

It may sound too low, but you can easily earn at least $300 a month with the right combination of expert marketing. It’s still a thousand bucks short from $1372, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get there eventually.

Difficulty: Medium. ✅

How I Make A Living Online (and how You too Can!

Before I disclose how I make a living online, I want to ask you which of the two methods mentioned above are you interested in trying out?

If I were in your shoes, I’d probably do the curation stuff than the second one, given that it’s more pocket-friendly and something that you could start at the earliest opportunity.

On the other hand, the second one is unquestionably a no-brainer if you’re seriously pursuing recognition as a real artist.

Earn money with SpotifyAnd if you still have trouble deciding which one you want to go after, then I think I have something that can put your mind at ease, given the fact that it can provide you with better earnings than the ones from Spotify. 💯

With the same amount of time and commitment, you can comfortably earn more than three figures with my most recommended online opportunity

Please consider that the method I’ll be revealing requires considerable effort, and only then will you be able to rip the benefits that it has to offer.

The way I make a living online is by doing something called affiliate marketing, and in a nutshell, it is a business model in which you get paid to promote and sell other people’s products or services.

It’s an evergreen way of earning that dates from the 1980s, and because of the increase of internet users, it’s set to explode even more in the upcoming few years.

Otherwise stated – now is the best time to get involved in it. 👌

This way of earning has allowed me to change my life and my perception of working literally. Just like yourself, I know what it feels like to wake up each morning, dragging myself to work every single day.

It’s tedious, unfulfilling, and it certainly made me feel like I was wasting life at one point. AM has made it possible for me to establish my source of passive income, thus earning me my freedom by giving me the privilege of time.

As has been mentioned, I’m an affiliate marketer myself, and here are the top ten reasons why I think you should consider becoming one too:

  1.  It’s the most common method that people earn online.
  2. It’s relatively less risky when compared to other business models.
  3. 2 out of 3 online earners are affiliates.
  4. It’s readily understood but does require a lot of work.
  5. It can be quite a creative way to earn.
  6. AM has a meager startup cost.
  7. It becomes passive with time.
  8. It doesn’t require any previous knowledge or expertise.
  9. It’s pretty convenient and flexible.
  10. If I and thousands of others are doing it, so can you. 🤠

To some of you, it may sound like a fulsome window of opportunity, but you can actually do a quick Google search and see for yourself why many recognize it as one of the most recommended ways to earn in 2021 and beyond.

Like any other business, this one will also require you to learn a thing or two about the process. Luckily for you, I might just have the perfect platform for you to start with.

As they did for me, the platform that I’ll share with you can also give you the much-needed tools, pieces of training, and support to go out there and pursue a career as an affiliate with complete confidence.

I’m not sure if this is your first time hearing about it, but in the past decade or so, Wealthy Affiliate has been the go-to educational platform for anyone that’s looking to get started within the world of online marketing.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a complete rookie or a seasoned ultra-successful affiliate marketer – WA can help you out and transform your ideas into profits by teaching you how to create beautiful, profit-ready websites.

Sites like the one you’re on now. 🙂

I go more in-depth about how their blueprint works in my money guide, so you might want to check it out and see for yourself why it has been my go-to platform and some of the reasons why I recommend it so much.

It’s truly one of those rare places where you can get expert coaching, help, and advice when you need it, and the fact that it has more than 1.4 million active members on it speaks for itself.

It’s ideal for beginners and experts alike, as they can give you all the features you need to succeed and master affiliate marketing with industry-leading education.

Spotify Review The thing I love the most about WA is that it deals with a unique freemium membership model, making it possible for you to test out the platform and experience it with all of its beauties from within without paying a dime. 💘

You have zero risks, zero obligation, and more than what you need to decide whether such a career is one worthy of pursuing.

It’s time for me to end this Spotify review, so hopefully, I was able to answer whether this notorious platform is a scam and a complete waste of time or not.

For inquiries or comments regarding Wealthy Affiliate or the affiliate marketing sphere in general, feel free to drop a message below, and I promise to give my best to reply to it promptly. 👋

  1. Wow. What a great article. I didn’t even know there was a way to earn on Spotify, even if you are not a musician.

I have many musician friends looking for ways to make money, and I have often told them to be a DJ on YouTube. I have also mentioned to them to try their luck on Spotify, but I wasn’t even aware you could earn this way.

Thanks a lot, Gorjan. I will bookmark this blog.

    1. Become a DJ on YouTube. That is by far one of the best pieces of advice you can give to a friend. I’m not sure if you know him, but there’s this British bloke SUAT that does precisely that.

A great channel, to be honest, but carrying that weight for that amount of time comes with a cost, and one thing is for sure, your lower back will hate you for it.

Either way, it’s a great idea you had there, but due to the obvious reasons, I still believe that Shopify is a better starting point.

  2. Hi,

I had no idea that you could get paid to be a curator! If anyone loves their music and is into listening to a wide range of sounds, this is an absolute must!

It sounds like an excellent way to start earning for doing something you enjoy. Even if it doesn’t pay well, to begin with, it’s still a fantastic gig so that you can build your rep up in time.

Great review, mate, and great idea also.

    1. It sure is. You might not get paid too well initially, but as you said, it’s still a fantastic side-gig that will mature with time.

I’m glad you liked my review, LJ, and I hope to see you once again here soon.

  3. Wow, excellent review. I really liked how you explained the various methods of earning an income through Spotify.

I love how you made sure to explain what can happen by not following the rules within each method. I must admit I had no idea you could make money just by listening to music.

Indeed an intriguing idea for someone who listens to a lot of music and has established playlists and followers, as you mentioned. I do agree that affiliate marketing is a great way to earn an income.

It is certainly my choice of income-generating. The biggest thing I love about it is that it puts me in the driver’s seat of my life rather than being dictated to by a boss or manager. Thanks for getting this info out there.

    1. Everyone seems to lean towards the ‘earn by listening’ method. I guess it really does deserve the first mention.

How’s your journey going so far? Are you making sales consistently, or are you just getting started? I would love to help you out if you need me to. Just reply to this comment, and I’ll be happy to see what I can do for you.

Thanks for the comment, btw. I appreciate it.
