Is Symmetry Financial Group A Pyramid Scheme? The Truth Exposed

Symmetry Financial Group Review Scam
Your friend might want to know about this:

Being an insurance agent is one of the most pleasing career choices for people who are looking for flexibility and are in the market for creating an impact in someone’s life.

Additionally, signing-up with famous and high-ranking financial firms can significantly boost your chances of having unlimited earning potential.

If you are seriously considering jumping in on this, then I bet that you have read (or at least heard) about the top insurance provider that goes by the name of Symmetry Financial Group.

With that being said, I also assume that your curiosity has been piqued and that’s why you have been dwelling on the following question:

“Is Symmetry Financial Group a pyramid scheme or is it something that I should be apart of? 🤔

Whenever we hear the word “life insurance agent” we picture someone who is into promoting and selling some type of lucrative yet safe propositions.

And most often than not, we immediately dismiss them and their affordable plans thinking that we are still young and that life has much more to offer.

However, the reality is different. 🙂

Life is filled with surprises, and you cannot really predict what will happen in the forthcoming years. The uncertainty is the spice of life, and I’m sure you’ll agree on that.

Now that the pandemic is changing the way we live, people are now slowly recognizing that life insurance may, after all, be a smart investment.

Fortunately, it is never too late to have a quote for one, but let me warn you that because of the current outbreak, the costs for premiums may be a bit steeper than before. Is Symmetry Financial Group A Pyramid SchemeDepending on the reasons for your insurance and the desired coverage for the policy, you will be allowed to protect not only your assets but also the future of those who depend on you.

You may find it as an unnecessary waste of money now but trust me, and your loved ones will thank you for it.

If you are thinking of riding on this trend on investments and medical health, one of the careers that you can pursue is in the field of insurance.

You see, there are many reasons why this may seem like the perfect hustle today: 👇

  1. The potential of earning is unlimited (especially now that people are more conscious about preserving and maximizing the value of their assets)

  2. You can help prepare for the future of other people (while the job may be stressful, you can find comfort in genuinely helping people to achieve their financial and personal goals)

  3. Anyone can do it (unlike other careers, insurance sales do not entail that you have stellar academic achievements. Rather, your success will rely on your people skills, personality, and professionalism)

  4. You will get to grow professionally and personally (aside from being able to hone your skills on marketing, you may also be given a chance to train fellow agents!)

If those reasons ring a bell, then this may be the perfect job for you. But do note that aside from your skills, you also need to take into account the credibility of the insurance brand that you intend to sell.

If one of the brands you are considering is Symmetry Financial Group, then this article is perfect for you.

Since I am devoted to my readers, I decided to lay down all the information I found about this company to help you make your own decision

Before I start, let me be completely transparent with you that I am not in any way, shape or form connected to the company.

My sole purpose for writing this Symmetry Financial Group review is not to mislead and upsell you. Instead, I want to provide you with the most valuable information regarding this insurance provider, so you can feel comfortable with whatever you decide. 😊

If you are up for that, then let me start by introducing the founders of the company.

Symmetry Financial Group’s Dream Team

Aside from its positive rating at BBB, the company’s fast-paced success should be attributed to its founding members: Brandon Ellison, Casey Watkins, and Brian Pope.

The Big Three Trio, as I like to call them, founded the company with the primary goal of bringing balance to the insurance agents’ professional and personal lives.

The main thing that is common among them is that they have had all their fair share of experiences in the field of insurance and marketing.

For instance, in this interview, Brandon shared that before the establishment of Symmetry, he found himself working in an insurance company as a regular agent.

In 2012, he co-founded a sustainable restaurant called Native Kitchen and Social Pub alongside his wife and another couple, Casey and Sarah Watkins.  Is the Symmetry Financial group a scamOn the other hand, Casey has also been in the field as an agent where he learned about the value of passion, patience, and persistency.

During his seminar-type talks, he is usually the one discussing the real-life struggles of an insurance agent.

Lastly, Brian had served the field of insurance since 1987 when he became a field agent for Met Life.

He stayed at the company for three years and had transitioned into a sales management position where he mastered the concepts of leadership.

A year after that, he founded Insurance Wholesales Inc., which he grew into a million-dollar company. Additionally, he also became a chairman and board member of some of the largest life insurance consortium in the United States.

What is Symmetry Financial Group all about?

With over ten years of experience in insurance marketing, Symmetry Financial Group (SFG) is one of the fastest-growing companies based in Swannanoa, North Carolina.

It specializes in providing unbeatable life and asset insurance coverage for protecting clients and their families towards their journey in life.

It is legitimate and recognized by EntrepreneurINCBBBMake A Wish community and Business North Carolina magazine for its trailblazing contributions in promoting awareness and spearheading innovative solutions about health and life insurances.

Additionally, Symmetry Financial Group’s Glassdoor reviews by employees are significantly higher compared to its major competitors. The emerging themes from the comments include:

  1. Positive response to the training and support for agents
  2. The company’s mission is consistently discussed and reminded to the agents
  3. The company provides an opportunity for professional and personal growth
  4. It is relatively easy to land a job in the company

In terms of its social media presence, SFG holds 17k followers on Facebook, 2.3k on Instagram, 933 on Twitter, and a resounding 27k on LinkedIn.

For such a reputable and big company, I find the numbers are a bit small. I guess this reflects that there really is very few people who are into insurance buying per se.

However, before you jump into the company, let me discuss what it really is all about. Contrary to common belief, Symmetry Financial Group is not an insurance provider itself. ❌

Instead, it provides quotations from different insurance carriers like Transamerica and Foresters.

In a sense, they can be considered as a referral agency where SFG’s agents will be the face for other insurance providers.

What are the services of Symmetry Financial Group?

As I have mentioned in the first part of the article, many people refuse to accept the life insurance because of one main reason – the price! 🙃

The premium for purchasing an insurance policy depends on factors such as the age, health conditions, work environment of the client, and type of policy to be bought.

I, for one, have been quoted by different insurance providers.

Since the nature of my work is not that stressful, and my health is at its tip-top shape, would you believe that the lowest quote I ever received was along the range of $30-40 only?

The premium really depends on you and what your provider can offer. ✔️

For the case of SFG, the company specialises in providing life insurance policies that are tailored fit depending on the clients’ personal goals – may it be for wealth preservation or maximisation, retirement, or critical illness.

SYMMETRY FINANCIAL GROUPSince it is partnered with over 30 insurance carriers, the possibility of finding a suitable type is highly possible. 👍

The company provides an extensive range of life insurances such as mortgage protection, retirement, term life, critical illness, disability, and universal life insurance.

What I personally like about SFG is that since it covers a variety of companies, interested clients may try on different vehicles until they find the quotation that best suits their needs.

How do I join Symmetry Financial Group?

Joining the company is easy since all you have to do is to fill out their online form and wait for a call from their company representative. During the call, be prepared to answer interview questions such as:

  1. Whether you are licensed in selling insurance/investment (if not, then you will be required to take and pass the licensure exam)
  2. Your availability and how much time you can work on as an agent per week
  3. Whether you have reliable transportation (since all client presentations are done face to face)
  4. Your expected and previous income
  5. Your experience in sales (and sometimes your educational background)
  6. Reasons why you think you are a good fit for the company

There are three main paths that you can choose from as an aspiring employee 👇

  1.  Producer path (best for new agents – part-time)
  2. Wholesaler path (best for agents with experiences in sales – full time)
  3. Owner path (best for agents who are interested in building an agency of their own)

What are Symmetry Financial Group’s compensation plans?

Since the SFG is commission-based, it follows a predefined compensation plan for agents. Basically, fresh agents begin on a 60% commission level. 🤭

This suggests that you will be paid 60% of the first year of the computed annual premium of your client as commission.

For instance, if the annual premium of the policy you sold is around is $1,000, and the insurance product pays 60%, you will earn $600 in commission. 😵 😏

Please note that the commission payout and insurance product pricing varies depending on the investment carrier. If you are interested in the exact pricing per product per carrier, feel free to check out their actual spreadsheet. 👈

Based on my review, I also found out that aside from selling insurance, you must also keep track of your own commission level and update your up line manager for promotion.

Is Symmetry Financial Group a Pyramid Scheme?

So what exactly is the major truth about the company? Is the Symmetry Financial group a scam that you should stay away from or a company that you can rely on?

Before answering this, let me first summarize my review on the company’s legitimacy. You see, understanding its track record can help us answer whether it is a pyramid scheme or not. 🙂

  1. The company has been around since 2009
  2. It has been recognized by prestigious brands such as INC and BBB
  3. There are lots of positive reviews about the company (both on the customer’s side and employee’s side)
  4. The compensation structure is reliable and is not sketchily changing from time to time.
  5. The founders are very visible, and they sometimes conduct pieces of training themselves.

I know that words such as ‘upline’, ‘payout’, and ‘commisions’ made you question whether the Symmetry Financial Group is a pyramid scheme, but the answer to that is NO, Symmetry Financial Group is not a pyramid scheme. ❌

While it may seem like that at first glance, the Symmetry Financial Group is a legitimate company that follows a multi-level marketing business structure.

Unlike pyramid schemes which are utterly illegal due to their fraudulent nature of selling thin air, the Symmetry Financial Group actually sells reliable products.

More importantly, you do not have to worry about the “upline” thingies since it is entirely up to you whether you want to recruit or not.

After all, your chances of earning do not depend on the number of people that have signed up under you. (especially if your chosen path is not really about setting up your own agency).

Do I recommend it? Well, it depends. 😕

If you are looking for a legitimate company, then yes, this is the perfect choice for you since you can gain significant experiences from this career.

On the flip side, if your main goal is to earn more significant commissions in a less stressful environment, then you might want to read on and see my recommended alternative instead.  👇

It’s Time to End my Symmetry Financial Group  Review (But Wait!

My Symmetry Financial Group review may be coming to an end, but I would not want to let you go without sharing with you that there is a better alternative for making a full-time income online. 💯

If you are not that keen on selling a product that you are not as passionate about, then maybe you should consider my number one recommendation instead.

My recommendation holds the number one spot for a reason. 🏆

It will teach you how to establish a fully operational affiliate marketing business, and it will give you all the tools, support, and training to go out there and absolutely crush it as an affiliate.

You see, MLM is somewhat the same as affiliate marketing, it’s just that with affiliate marketing you have complete control over the things, products, and services that you want to be involved with.

I also prefer affiliate marketing as a business model because it gives you the chance to earn unlimited profits. Still, it all comes down to how much time and effort you’re willing to allot in focusing on your business.

Affiliate marketing may work like magic, but it won’t do all the work for you. 🪄 😄

The fact that you’re still here and reading this is a sign to me that your curiosity has been awoken, so I thought I’d share with you how this business model works in a nutshell.

Running an affiliate marketing business is enjoyable. 🤓

All you have to do as an affiliate is to connect a particular audience with a specific product or service that they are interested in buying and earn a predetermined commission when the sale happens.

There are numerous ways to promote the products and services you’re selling, but the way I like to do it is with free traffic, and there’s a good reason for that.

Contrary to paid traffic, free traffic may require a more extended period, but once it starts working, it will provide your site with a steady flow of highly targeted traffic that will produce sales for you around the clock. (it becomes passive) 😴 💸

There are many forms of free traffic, but my personal favourite is SEO, and allow me to clarify why.

The abbreviation SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and it represents a traffic method that ensure your site it built up in a way that makes it appear high in the rankings of Google. (ideally the 1st page)

IS SYMMETRY FINANCIAL GROUP REVIEW IS LEGIT

Once your site pops up there, it will receive thousands of visitors, that more often than not equal to tens or hundreds of sales and hefty commissions for yourself.

You see, the simple blog you’re on now is a perfect example of how an affiliate marketing business should function and look like. 😊

Don’t let the simplicity fool you cause this blog is more than enough support my day to day expenses and helps me live life on my terms. It operates impeccably now, but unsurprisingly, it wasn’t always like that. 🙁

I used to be a guy that knew nothing about building and managing affiliate sites. As a matter of fact, I was quite average in dealing with all things related to the web.

However, luckily for me, one day, I accidentally stumbled upon a community that will teach me all of the skills mentioned above, and that was a turning point for me.

The community I’m referring to goes by the name of Wealthy Affiliate. 👈

It is a platform whose primary goal is to equip novices like yourself with all the tools, tips, tricks, support, and most importantly, confidence to go out there and absolutely shine within the affiliate marketing field.

You’re probably asking yourself: “Why is this guy telling me all of this?”

Because I would love nothing more than to help you with the onboarding process and mentor you personally until you reach the $1000 a month in passive income mark.

It would be my utmost pleasure to introduce you to the founders of this outstanding platform and share with you all the dirty little tricks I’ve learned over the years.

Do you want my advice? Don’t overthink it. 🤯

The Wealthy Affiliate platform offers a FOREVER FREE membership, meaning that the possibility of you being scammed does not exist.

Just sign up to the platform, study it, and see whether it’s something you would want to be apart of.

Wealthy Affiliate opens doors of opportunities to aspiring online entrepreneurs as it provides weekly training, tools, and a supportive community to back you up during any time of the day.

I don’t want to bother you too much since I’m sure you have better things to do. 🙂

Hopefully, my Symmetry Financial Group review provided you with enough valuable information for you to conclude whether this top insurance provider is a complete scam and a pyramid scheme or not.

If there’s something else you are interested in or if you have any additional questions, please feel free to leave a comment below, and I’ll make sure to get back to you as soon as I can.

  1. I worked here for a year. It’s a pyramid scheme. You waste thousands on 5-year-old leads (while agency owners take every single fresh lead), and most of your commission goes to the people higher in the pyramid.

And SFG is not an insurance provider.

They are a middle man between the customer and the actual insurance providers. Their agents buy people’s information and start cold calling.

If they are actually able to book an appointment, they go to people’s houses (they are not allowed to meet anywhere else) and push overpriced term policies in people’s faces.

Read the customer reviews online (not the fake ones written by agency owners), and you’ll see that SFG has been known to harass people and target the elderly.

I experienced it first-hand working for them, and I just couldn’t take the guilt of working for such a shady company. I apologize for saying this, but your review is invalid if you haven’t actually worked with or for them.

    1. Thanks for sharing your thought with me John, I highly appreciate it.

I’m not saying that success is guaranteed, not that anyone will manage to profit big out of this opportunity.

However thought, the SFG is not a pyramid scheme, but it indeed follows an MLM structure that may not be ideal for everyone.

With pyramid schemes, your chances of earning depend on the number of people that have signed under you. The case is different with SFG.

And yes, I’m very well aware of the harassment that has been going on. I just haven’t had the time to update my review.

  2. Hi,

Thanks for the heads up with this Symmetry Financial Group review. I’ve been cautious of many such organizations, especially when it involves MLM-recruitment.

Still, it’s good to know that it isn’t a scam. Won’t be joining though as recruitment isn’t my forte. I’d instead give affiliate marketing a shot, though I’m not sure if it’s my type of a business model.

    Cheers,
    Kenny

    1. Hey, Kenny, hope everything is going well with you, and I really do hope that you found my review helpful.

As I’ve stated above, the Symmetry Financial Group is not a scam, but as you say, recruitment is also not everyone’s cup of tea.

I know that you might hesitate to give affiliate marketing a shot at first, but me letting you know that the WA community offers a forever free starter membership might change your mind.

It’s not a community that forces you to buy into their program by telling all of these lies about how you’ll succeed within the first two or three months of starting.

It’s an open-minded, genuine platform, and their freemium membership model only confirms that.

Feel free to ask for guidance if at some point you decide that affiliate marketing is the path to take. Until then, stay safe and that I wish you the best of luck wherever your journey takes you.

  3. Hi, thank you for breaking down the Symmetry Financial Group. I have seen it pop up every other time when i check out how to make money online and wondered what it`s all about. Your article has broken it down well and now i understand what it entails. From the look of things, insuarance recommendation isn`t my cup of tea, i think i will try affiliate marketting.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Janet

    1. I’m more than pleased to see that you liked my review, Janet. Do not hesitate to reach out if you think I can help you start your online journey. I’ll be delighted to help you out.

  4. This is an interesting review. I have not heard of Symmetry previously and the concept they are using is new to me. It looks like it was not an easy one to set up.
Your review is very unbiased, even a little understated I think. I went to the Symmetry site and found some great information there.
If the mentoring for the new agent is dedicated and the new agent is also dedicated then this looks like a great opportunity for someone who wants to help people and be well rewarded.
I have heard of Wealthy Affiliate. Thank you for including it here, as the comparison between Symmetry and Wealthy Affiliate is not longer chalk and cheese, with remote work becoming a more accepted practice these days.
Looking forward to more reviews on this site.
    Regards,
    Michael.

    1. I agree! People are feeling more comfortable with choosing remote practices these days, and the reason is obvious. Working online allows you to sell and promote in so many ways, and that opens a whole new spectrum of possibilities.

Hopefully, you found my review helpful and informative, Michael. Best wishes, and stay safe.

  5. Thanks for your great article on Symmetry Financial Group.
I was really surprised that the average fresh agents commissions were as high as 60%.
Do the same agents get a trailing commission also? or is that only on the initial sale?

This is interesting, but ultimately the people as “business owners” with Symmetry Financial Group have to sell insurances. This is very competitive with so many insurance options out there and I feel that to be successful you have to be inherently good at sales or want to be good at sales.

This is not something that interests me, I am looking for a more work at home strategy where I can earn online and create passive, residual income. So I would rather pursue your alternative.
    Thanks so much

    1. Being an insurance agent does require a lot of experience, and it’s more than competitive if you ask me.

You chose smartly, and hopefully, you get back your investment soon. Wealthy Affiliate is currently the place to be, and trust me when I say they are not going anywhere anytime soon.

  6. Life insurance like you say is something that eludes us as we all think we are going to live forever, but something that should be looked at from an early age. The earlier you start the better the returns.

We all need and use insurance cover over our lifetimes for all sorts of needs, but finding the right company is often difficult because there are so many.

It’s only when the time comes that you need their help that things can turn a little sour sometimes. Actually, I would say more often than not.

Just 3 months ago we had our house broken into and a few things were taken.

We were covered (as we thought) with a reputable company but they refused to pay out on what they said was technicality whatever that means.

We weren’t covered as we thought because it was done over the phone and we were given the wrong information. It’s a good job that they didn’t clear us out because according to them we weren’t covered.

They have changed their decision on several occasions but to do that we had to make a number of phone calls and the threat of taking them to court as we had £50k cover.

The point I am trying to make is I wouldn’t trust any insurance company because at the end of the day they will try every conceivable thing to worm out of paying.

Although we got around 60% back, we are still using the legal cover through the insurance company to take them to court to recover the rest.

    Most people just wouldn’t bother.

    Thank you for sharing

    1. Sorry to hear that such an event has happened to you, and for some reason, many companies continue not to pay for their clients’ stolen items. Many of them will think of a way to change your case into a “technicality” one so that they avoid covering for you.

Unfortunately, that is the reality we face with insurance providers nowadays. Hopefully, it will change soon.

As for us, we must always do better research and decide who we trust, as you have done here today.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me and the others on this blog. As always, the opinion of a reader is always welcomed.

  7. Thanks for making this review. I know a lot of people who hear about a company like this think that it is a pyramid scheme. And in most cases, MLM companies turn out to be pyramid schemes. I am glad that this company doesn’t fall into the majority. As you said ”Symmetry Financial Group is a legitimate company that follows a multi-level marketing business structure.” But I will still not buy it. I am not a fan of MLMs. I feel like I don’t give value to people with MLM. I am only selling products. I prefer to produce content that helps people solve a problem.

    1. I’m always delighted to come across a person that thinks this way. Selling is not just about making money (at least not for me). It’s about providing value and helping others realize that there are far better solutions out there.

MLM are the worst, and they are not something I would consider doing in the long term. Too many big promises spiced up with a ton of false hopes.

Thanks for sharing your opinion with me, Delyana, and know that I wish you the best of luck wherever your journey takes you.

  8. Hi,

Well coming from a background in Finance I can tell you that the most lucrative products I sold happened to be life insurance, especially critical illness and whole-life policies.

With that said, a lot of the business that I undertook was mortgage-related, whether residential or commercial, so often the more popular policies were term-life. Nowehere near as much commission, but still pretty good.

I actually worked through an intermediary company at the time, and would typically have a number of insurance companies that we could provide quotes and sales for.

This sounds very much like the type of business that the Symmetry Finincial Group provide as well.

So, I for one can say that companies like these are definitely worthwhile, as long as you’ve researched them thoroughly (although, in truth, you have done that for us here, and as a regular visitor to your site I have learned to trust and value your opinion, so thank you).

I’m glad you’ve pointed out the importance of having your certificates and passing your exams.

I’m not sure how the system works in the US, as my Finance background was based in the UK, but we had to pass an annual exam in order to be able to sell for the following 12 months.

Nothing mind-blowing, but as long as you had studied and knew your stuff it was a fairly simple examination to work through.

Financial Symmetry Group certainly seems like the real deal based on your review, and I really like the fact that even though it’s considered an MLM, there’s no need to rely on building uplines/downlines in order to create an income.

    Partha

    1. Hey, Partha. Glad to see someone who knows who’s had his fair share of experience in the field.

The life insurance policies are, without a doubt, more lucrative, but would you say that the mortgage-related ones are better converting and more comfortable to sell?

You are so right, by the way. Companies like the Symmetry Financial Group are quite precious and rewarding, but only if you know how to approach your sales tactics from the right angle.

As for the US system, it’s pretty much the same as in the UK. Your skills will have to be evaluated before you’re eligible to sell overseas. However, that shouldn’t be an issue for you since you’ve already done it before.

Anyways, thanks for stopping by and sharing your opinion with me. I highly appreciate it!

I wish you all the luck in the world, my friend. Feel free to reach out to me if there’s somehow that I can help

  9. Hey Gorjan, thanks for sharing this review of Symmetry Financial Group. I agree with you. It’s not a pyramid scheme or a scam. In fact, I too have read a lot of positive customer reviews of this company all over the net, which is a great sing always.

However, I’m not passionate about selling insurance or working with a company in which I do no believe. In other words, I think I’m going to pass this opportunity. The commission structure sounds juicy, but it’s not all just about the money. Thanks for sharing, once again, and keep up the good work with your site!

    1. Hey, Ivan. Thanks so much for your encouraging and kind words.

You’re absolutely right. The commission structure is quite juicy, but it’s not all about the money. It’s kind of hard to focus on selling a product if you’re not that passionate about it. (At least this I how I feel)

Keep your hopes up, Ivan. I’m sure you’ll come across something that will motivate you to go through the daily grind. Until then, I wish you the best of luck wherever life takes you.

      Stay safe!

  10. It makes sense that Premium insurance rates may go up now during the pandemic. That had not even occurred to me. Are more insurance policies being sold nowadays because of covid? If that is so, then insurance agents must be making good money.
60% commission is excellent. This sounds like a nice extra income. I think I would prefer your alternative method, though. Does the free membership offer you enough training and knowledge to set up your own website and build an online business?

    1. Welcome to deefunnels.com, Christine. Hopefully, everything is going well with you.

The pandemic has taken its toll on us, and partnering with a company like SFG might be the smartest move. (Only if you’re capable of selling these type of policies)

Insurance agents have been making a significant income over the past couple of months, and it’s not too late to jump on the train. As for the commissions, %60 is better than excellent. (If you ask me)

As for my recommendation – Yes, it’s entirely possible to set up your own online business from scratch with the forever free Wealthy Affiliate membership.

You won’t have access to all the tools and training modules, but you’ll still be able to build, host, and manage your business (site) on a domain that looks like the one below.

      http://www.siterubix.yourdomain.com

The only downfall of this is that it doesn’t look too professional, but you can upgrade to the premium plan whenever you feel comfortable down the line. (If you feel like doing so)

That’s the thing I love the most about WA. Their Freemium model is unlike anything you’ll find in the industry. Give it a shot, and see if you like it. As simple as that.

  11. That’s a very in-depth review! Having some customer support and sales experience myself, this seems quite interesting for those looking for an opportunity.

The owner path you mentioned is what thrilled me the most. Do you have personal experience in managing your own agency with Symmetry Financial Group?

    1. Hey, Julius.

First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by and sharing your opinion with the other readers of this blog and me. I highly appreciate it.

Secondly, I would like to say that I’m delighted that you agree with some of the statements that I made in this review.

Yes, the Symmetry Financial Group offers a great opportunity, but I also think that there are far better alternatives that people should look into.

As for your question – NO, I haven’t tried partnering up with SFG, nor do I have any experience managing my own agency.
