Is Decluttr a Scam or a Hell of a Way to Earn a Quick $183?

Decluttr Review
Your friend might want to know about this:

From my point of view, there are two reasons as to why you’re here. 🙂

The first one is because you recognize that your basement and drawers are full of stuff that you don’t even need, and the second one is that maybe you want to start this year with an actual state of order within your space.

To help you with that, allow me to answer the question of whether Decluttr is a scam company or a foolproof way to dispose of your belongings and earn a quick buck.

If you have been following this site for some time now, you know how much I love to rave and investigate some of the most prominent opportunities online. 🕵️

I’ve always had this routine where I try to spend at least five to six hours a day reviewing these online platforms to give you the most comprehensive discussion of whether that particular product or service is worth your time, money, and most of all, your effort.

And as we usher in a new year, I keep seeing my friends embrace the Feng-Shui dictum of clutter-free living and minimalistic Japanese home trends.

With this being said, almost everyone I know is saying that two of the significant resolutions they have on top of their lists are to create a clutter-free environment and become a more active participant in the concept of sustainable living.

In line with that, some of them are continually cleaning and posting stuff of their neatly packaged items (such as antiques, old books and toys, and even old gadgets) ready for disposal.

And this got me thinking – what if there is a profitable way to dispose of your items while earning? What if there is an online site or maybe an app that can help connect these ready-to-throw-away items to people interested in buying them.

Well, as luck would have it, I have found some of the biggest online sites that actually cater to this goal! Based on my research, some of the industry’s famous names include NextdoorDecluttrMusic MagpieVintage Cash Cow5Miles, and Poshmark

Is Decluttr a scamThey have gained a significant number of followers since they can buy off your stuff without all the hassle of actually posting on eBay or Amazon. 👌

Aside from the benefit of making money, it is becoming a trend these days because re-commerce allows everyone to limit the waste footprint in our world and invites people to become more educated consumers.

You see, when you sell from the brands mentioned above, they usually revamp your pieces and sell them again to interested parties.

But do you know what the best part is? 😊

These sites can also help in disposing of your items in the best manner.

For instance, instead of adding your old laptops to a landfill somewhere in the world, why not just sell them and let manufacturers refurbish your item or salvage whatever way they can to make a new life out of it.

If you are interested in hearing how the process goes, I guess it’s about time we venture into what Decluttr has to offer.

But, before we start, allow me just to put a disclaimer here and say that I am not in any way connected to Decluttr, nor am I being compensated to write this post.

What you will read here today is my honest opinion and nothing more. 💯

At the end of this article, I’ve also added my most recommended way of earning online, which you should look at if you wish to find out how this simple blog has comfortably been earning me four figures a month.

Decluttr Review

Let’s start with the name of the brand first. You see, just by merely reading it, you can somehow picture a no-frills type of company related to a kind of cleaning service.

Well, it may not actually be about “cleaning” per se, but through their site, you can seek their help and see whether they will accept your old gadgets so that you’ll earn some money out of them.

If you head over to their site, you can see that Decluttr makes money by doing two things – buying your stuff and reselling it. ✅

In the shopping section  you will be amazed by how low the prices are, primarily for the Apple iPhone line.

What is even better is that you can be sure that they will come with a 12-month warranty and a 14-day money-back guarantee when you buy off the site.

Aside from iPhone lines, they also sell Samsung phones, iPads, and other tablets, wearables, game consoles, films, and albums.

Now, suppose you are really interested in buying from them. In that case, you can rest assured knowing that their sales page accepts Amazon Pay, PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, Discover Network, American Express, and Klarna.

In the sell section   this is where you can key in the model of your device and select the condition of the unit, whether it is good, low, or faulty.

For gadgets, please note that the offer price depends on several things like a carrier (more money if it’s unlocked), the system software’s functionality, the condition of buttons and camera, and physical damage.

As of writing, they are accepting the following items:

•  Phones

•  CDs, DVDs, & Blu-rays (music, films, and games)

•  Books

•  Gadgets (like wearables, tablets, or MacBook)

•  Games and consoles

•  Lego (price is dependent on the weight)

For me, I find it a great and easy way to dispose of your gadgets properly. 👍

I mean, instead of going through the hassle of setting up your shop online, creating listings or descriptions of your item on social media or eBay or Amazon, why not go for this convenient way instead?

I also adore Decluttr because they can help you remove your personal data on your device!

One of the reasons I am holding on to one of my Samsung tablets is that I am scared that if I sell it to the wrong people, they may recover some of my old pictures (not nudes) and personal data.

But with the help of re-commerce sites like Decluttr, you can be sure that your item will be fully renewed and cannot be traced back to you.

Believe it or not, there’s more to it.

Another thing I fancy about this company is that it also buys broken handsets. They can buy those that no longer power up due to battery issues or corrupt operating systems, those with cracked screens and dents, and even those with broken microphones or speakers.

Now, let’s talk about legitimacy. ⭐

You see, this platform has a resounding 4.6-star rating out of 16k reviews on Trustpilot. It also has around 4.04 customer ratings on BBB

On social media, they have about 11k followers on Facebook and 1.7k on Twitter. I was quite surprised that it does not have many followers, unlike its competitors Vintage Cash Cow and Music Magpie.

However, the good thing is that many enterprises have featured the company, making it a powerful and legitimate force to contend with. Some of these are CNetGood Morning AmericaCheddarThe Huffington Post, and Forbes.

How Does Decluttr Work?

Allow me to summarize how it works: 👇

You scan your item or key in the model, check the prices, and hit the sell button. Once you do that, you will be asked to write your address where they will send a shipping packet.

While waiting for the packet to arrive, you can find any box and bubble wrap all your items in there. Once the package arrives, make sure to include the labels, and you’re pretty much ready to go.

Check out this official video from the company to get a more concise explanation of how it works. Please note that Decluttr is actually meticulous on the items it buys.

For instance, you cannot just mix pirated DVDs with original ones in the hopes of them buying them.

You see, they only get those with an official barcode or ID, and once you ship them your item, they will still have to manually check the condition and give you the final offer via e-mail the next day.

Once you receive the e-mail, you can instantly click on whether you accept or decline the offer. Once you hit on accept, Decluttr will process the payment immediately, and you can expect the transfer to be done within the day.

However, if you feel that the offer is too low, you can skip on it and have your item shipped back to your address for free.

Download Decluttr ApplicationTo spare you from all the hassle of shipping your item, I highly suggest that you download the official Decluttr application via PlayStore or AppleStore. 📲 🛑

Through this app, you can get instant access to customer service but, more importantly, use their barcode scanner to scan all your items and see how much the company is willing to pay for your item.

When you use the scanner, it will either turn red or green. Red means that they will not accept your item, but it automatically adds your item to a virtual cart when it turns green.

Once you are done scanning everything, you can click on the cart button to see the actual amount you can expect for all the items.

If you are happy with the price, you will be redirected to a page where you need to add your information, such as:

•  PayPay address or bank details

•  Name of charity (if you want to donate the proceeds)

•  Address (they need this because they will send you a packet and instruction on how to ship your items to them)

When you are finally preparing your parcel, please note that you must take caution for your items by bubble wrapping them and making sure that the label stickers (included in the packet) are appropriately placed.

For selling cellphones, please note that you do not need to send your chargers, accessories or even put them into the original box (unless you specify that you want Decluttr to recycle them for free).

Is Decluttr A Scam?

Decluttr is definitely not a scam. ✅

It is legitimate, and it remains to be one of the hyped-up opportunities today. You see, if you ask me, I highly recommend this if and only if you are interested in disposing of your items as quickly as possible.

However, if you have the time and don’t mind reaching out to potential online buyers via Amazon, eBay, or social media, I think you should reconsider.

The only drawback here is that you cannot really get the best value for money, especially for items that are still working just fine.

I have tried scanning a few WII consoles and found out that they are only buying them for a few cents! Yep, not even a dollar!

However, when I tried posting it on Facebook, several interested people bid on it at a much higher price! So, I guess this really depends on what your goal is. If you want something quick and easy, Decluttr is the way to go!

At the same time, if you intend to earn some real money online, I suggest that you continue reading this Decluttr review as I introduce you to my most recommended way of earning on the internet. 🔻

How I Make A Living Online (Anyone Can do it!

Recommerce indeed offers many opportunities, especially for those interested in selling items instead of hoarding stuff.

While I agree that you can use Decluttr, I still suggest that you think about how you can earn in the long term. With this being said, I highly recommend that you try out affiliate marketing instead.

I don’t know if you’ve heard of it before, but AM is a widespread business model that allows you to earn from products that are not even yours.

As an affiliate, you’re able to earn a living by promoting other people’s products or services in exchange for a commission. More often than not, the commissions are massive and surpass the %40 marks.

I’m an affiliate marketer myself, and here are some of the reasons as to why I think you should become one yourself:

  1. It’s the most common income-generating method online.
  2. Its straightforwardness makes it very suitable for beginners.
  3. Compared to other businesses, AM has a low startup cost.
  4. It becomes passive after a while.
  5. It doesn’t require any previous expertise.
  6. Anyone can do it, including yourself. (see success stories) 🏆

The concept behind it is very uncomplicated, and there are many ways to successfully manage an affiliate marketing business.

Still, the most effective approach is to create a website and fill it up with helpful content that tackles a specific issue, making it easier for you to promote products to your readers to help them solve the problem.

I can go on and on for days about how tempting affiliate marketing is and the opportunities surrounding it.

However, it might best if you take a look at my ultimate affiliate marketing guide, where I detail how you can get started and all the things that you should look out for along the way.

Please don’t even bother looking at it if you think that this is some get-rich-quick scheme that can make you an overnight success story.

The blueprint to success works just fine, but it requires you to dedicate yourself fully, stay consistent, and only then will you’ll able to pick the fruits of your labor.

Decluttr ReviewLike any other business, this one also requires you to learn a thing or two about the process, and what better to do it than to join the platform that taught me everything I know of today. 🤩

Without the continuous support from this community, I wouldn’t be where I am right now, nor would I sit here and write this Decluttr review.

The fact that you’re here reading this article only reinforces my statement and reassures you that everything I said was right.

In the past decade, Wealthy Affiliate has been the go-to educational platform for aspiring affiliates of all levels.

It doesn’t matter if you are just getting started, have some experience, or if you’re an ultra-successful affiliate marketer.

Wealthy Affiliate is made for you and can give you all the pieces of training, tools, and much-needed support to help you establish your first successful affiliate marketing business and take on this prosperous industry with full confidence.

It would be my utmost pleasure to greet and mentor you personally, but even better, you’ll get a chance to speak with other established online earners and pick up a few lessons from their experiences without having to pay a dime.

WA deals with a unique freemium membership model that gives you access to the first few lessons of the course and more than enough time to decide whether a career in AM is something you would pursue.

It’s time for me to end this Decluttr review, so hopefully, I was able to shed light and answer the question on whether Decluttr is a scam or not.

If you wish me to review a specific product for you, or if you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to write a comment down below, and I promise to give my best to reply to it in a timely manner. 👋

  1. Oh Gorjan, Now you’ve made me feel terrible!! LOL.

I actually went on a substantial decluttering spree last year. I’ll admit that I am somewhat of a hoarder, and I hate to part with anything. However, last year I decided it was time for a clearout.

I mean, I have two whole wardrobes stuffed to the brim with items that never see the light of day.

I even have an entire box room that is packed full of stuff that I haven’t even touched in about five years. And it continues mounting month-after-month, year-after-year.

Admittedly, I was okay and gave most things away to charity. Anything else was sent to the tip.

But, just a few months later I came across an article about someone who had actually used Decluttr and Music Magpie not only to declutter but actually make themselves a tidy little profit along the way.

In fact, I believe the woman in question made in the region of about £3,000 (approx. $4,000) from actually taking the time to package everything correctly and do her research.

So, it shows that if you do have a lot of junk, it makes perfect sense to see if you can earn from it.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who continues to hoard unnecessarily.

I’m also happy that Decluttr has had a positive review from you. You know I’m a regular visitor, and I’ve learned to trust and appreciate your thoughts.

So, I’m glad that Decluttr meets with your approval.

With that being said, I also feel as sick as a dog by how much money I potentially missed out on by giving all my stuff away, LOL.

    1. As Dana, UFCs president would say – “If you don’t know, now you know!”

It’s always a blessing to see you on this blog, Partha. Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion with me, and if it makes you feel any better, I feel for you, and the fact that you’ve missed such an opportunity saddens me quite a bit.

  2. I do like the idea of Decluttr for getting rid of unwanted items.

Not often you come across recommended businesses online and a very refreshing thing to see, and with TrustPilot giving them a 91% rating is more than enough to show that this is a reputable company.

We are moving in a couple of years and need to de-clutter, so I am glad I came across your site.

I see that you are a member of Wealthy Affiliate and heard nothing but good things about them.

I really enjoyed this review which is packed with information. Great job!

    Thank you for sharing.

    1. Hey Mick, thanks for the kind words.

You should definitely consider Decluttr when the time comes. As for Wealthy Affiliate, the platform may not be perfect, but it’s the closest platform to perfection that you’ll find.

I genuinely hope we can collaborate one day, and until then, know that I wish you the best of luck wherever your journey takes you.

  3. Hey, Gorjan. Thanks a lot for sharing this review of Decluttr.

I’m fascinated by the idea behind this platform. Basically, from what I understand, they will buy old and used stuff, mostly electronics, from you and then, they resell it to other people to earn profits.

WOW! From a business standpoint, it’s an excellent idea. And from a user standpoint as well. I mean, we all have “junk” lying around that we don’t use anymore, so why not sell it.

Also, I like the idea of an app. They seem to have taken this thing very seriously. Thanks a lot again for your review!

    1. And believe it or not, it can even be more profitable than selling new items. I’ve had my fair share of experiences as a reseller, and I assure you that the profit margin can sometimes easily surpass the one where you sell new products.

By the way, thanks for the comment, Ivan. I highly appreciate it!

  4. I have never heard of Decluttr before now, and let me tell you that you have told me everything I need to know about the company and how it works in just this post alone.

Like almost everyone else, I do have somewhat I would call junk laying around the home.

You pointed out the vast benefit of Decluttr and that it’s convenient. If I don’t have time, I can quickly go to them and sell it to them. It is quick, easy, and even more than what I expected.

I am always looking to get the most out of anything, so I’d rather spend my time looking into a better way to make money.

    Fantastic and informative post.

    1. I’m glad you found my review informative, Elias.

I even encourage you to dispose of your unused belongings as soon as possible, and I should probably do the same.

The platform is more than convenient, and the fact you’re able to donate all of your proceeds makes it even better.

Thanks for stopping by stopping by and sharing your thoughts with me. It’s always a blessing to hear from someone like yourself.
